Who are your target audience and where do they hang out?


Time spent researching your target audience will be time well spent.   There are so many places where you can find out just who is your target market and get to know their likes and dislikes, what challenges they face as so much more.  You can use surveys and look at comments on social media platforms.  You can create some avatars and make a checklist/audit for your target audience.

  • What age are they?
  • Gender?
  • Married or single?
  • Think about the day to day life of these clients?
  • Think like your customer
  • See things from other people’s perspective
  • Listen to them 
  • Ask them -they will tell you what they want to know
  • What type of neighbourhood?
  • Any specific postcodes?
  • What grocery shops do they buy from?
  • What brands do they prefer?
  • What type of house or apartment do they live in?
  • What magazines and books?
  • What FB communities do they join – target them?
  • Check out their content
  • What are they wearing?
  • What is their occupation?
  • Do they like travel – how and where?
  • What social media platforms do they use?
  • What type of food do they like?
  • What do they watch on TV and in the movies?
  • Where do they go
  • What are they posting?
  • Are they into fitness?
  • Are they health conscious?
  • Are they trying to lose weight?
  • Do they have complimentary products?

I was going to create a Google doc about target marketing and I found a presentation that I had already made on the subject.  This is the link to it.  So I think there is more than enough information to start some research on your target market.  Of course the more you know about them the better.
